Advocacy is at the core of all that we do. We are advocates for both development and for our local business community. We are committed to building and maintaining a positive reputation for the development industry and advocating on behalf of industry stakeholders. Joining BOWDA is joining a community of passionate individuals and businesses who are devoted champions of our industry.

Responsibility

As a community advocacy group, we recognize and uphold our responsibility to our members, our industry, and our community as a whole. We promote the responsible development of homes in the Bow Valley through open, fair, and efficient processes. In keeping with our responsibility, we value transparency, collaboration, communication, and community.

Awareness

Another foundational element of our ethos is awareness. We facilitate public education and learning events to further our commitment to transparency and also offer our community key tools to become active participants in the work we are doing. Through spreading awareness, we empower our members and community with key information and resources. In addition, BOWDA members are always kept up to date on issues impacting the industry and the community.

Our Story

BOWDA has proudly served the Bow Valley since 1995. We are a membership-driven networking and advocacy group focused on the needs of the building and development industry. Our dynamic community of over 250 members is comprised of builders, developers, architects, planners, designers, lawyers, accountants, realtors, engineers, and more. BOWDA was founded for the purpose of building a strong and unified voice for local industry professionals. The organization has grown substantially over the years, though our mission has remained unchanged.

Our Impact

Our commitment to our community extends far beyond our work within the building and development industry. Through our philanthropic efforts, we have raised over $600,000 for local charities including the Bow Valley Christmas Spirit Campaign, The Canmore & Area Health Care Foundation, the Palliative Care Society of the Bow Valley, the Canmore Community Daycare Society, and YWCA Bow Valley Women’s Emergency Shelter, and many more.
